Who makes a good Eggs Benny in Cape Town?

I spent a few weeks on a small project eating my all-time favourite breakfast – no complaints here – to find Cape Town’s finest places when it came to making a good Eggs Benedict! Not only did these restaurants serve an ultimate Eggs Benny, but they topped it with presentation and outstanding service.

Each place had their own unique touch and style and created a “homemade” Eggs Benedict and that’s what I loved most. If you are looking for something different then each place will be able to suit your benedict fix!

Cafeen

41 Third Ave, Claremont, Cape Town

Cafeen Eggs Benedict

Situated in Harfield, Cafeen serves a monster Eggs Benny served on an English muffin with hash browns, bacon and poached eggs topped with hollandaise. Feeling adventurous? Grab a milkshake – I definitely suggest the Ferrero Rocher. While you await your order you can view all the beautiful antiques that surround you or indulge at the candy corner after your meal! One word – toodamnyummy.

The Company Gardens

15 Queen Victoria St, Cape Town

Enjoy a delicious Eggs Benny surrounded by nature itself in the Company Gardens, in CBD. Choose your pick between bacon and a hash brown or go florentine! This was a nice choice for enjoying the outdoors and look on the bright side – you get to enjoy a nice post-stroll through the gardens!

Hemelhuijs

71 Waterkant St, Cape Town

I loved Hemelhuijs because they were unique in so many ways! Firstly, the dish was extraordinary! The bread was fresh and sweet topped with poached eggs and greens with perfectly done hollandaise and sided with an artichoke. The service was on point and fast and the inside of the restaurant was spectacular.

Truth Coffee

36 Buitenkant St, Cape Town City Centre, Cape Town

Add some Salmon to the mix! Truth Coffee makes a mad Eggs Benny with Spinach and Salmon on sourdough topped with famous hollandaise sauce. Surrounded by finely dressed staff with great attitudes and a beautiful scenery it’s definitely a win-win situation.

I had no choice but to share my findings with the world and I hope that you can BENE-fit from this! 😛

Happy Thursday!

Surfs Up, It’s Spring Tide!

All swimmers and surfers in Cape Town were warned about the Full Moons Spring Tide on Monday the 30th April and its powerful rip current. As a content creator, I grasped this opportunity and started capturing the tide.

For those of you who don’t know, Spring Tide has nothing to do with the season Spring, it is the alignment of the sun and the moon with the earth. The ocean is pulled back and forth by a gravitational force. This creates the tides.

I couldn’t have chosen a better way to spend my Monday. The talent out there is real. Who knew the Spring Tide would bring such magic.

Big thanks to my partner in crime James Van Hinsbergen for joining me on that mission and to all of you in the water.

Psymedia | Recess pt.1 – Bringing The Heat

Psymedia | Recess pt.1 hosted at District 20/04/18

Psymedia, supported by Olmeca Tequila & Red Bull.

I think it’s safe to say that Friday was an unforgettable event. I attend these events for the love of the music and more importantly the incredible memories that are made. As the saying goes “Events end, but the memories last forever.”

Psymedia held their event at District, a popular nightclub based in Harrington Street that hosts regular events on a weekly basis. Mad drinks specials were on the cards, as you all know, Happy Hour from 21h00-22h00. Not drinking? Grab a Redbull!

Psymedia’s event was 7 hours of Techno / Progressive / Psytrance. Basically pure bliss. I don’t know about you, but my feet were definitely moving! The music was on point from start to finish and there was not a moment that dancefloor was not occupied. What I couldn’t help notice was the strong interaction between the DJ’s and the crowd and this quote just stood out to me:

Music should either move your feet or move your heart.

However, I shall challenge this quote by saying that on Friday night I think the music did both.

21:00 – 23:00 Sacred Sun

23:00 – 00:45 Geometric Flux

00:45 – 02:30 Dynamic Range

02:30 – 04:00 Deliriant

These were all local artists and were absolutely incredible up there. Check out their SoundCloud – especially if you missed the event! The use of visuals and lighting created a mindblowing atmosphere. PUPIL Visuals

Need I say much? The photos tell the story. Uplifting, cheerful and great dancing partners!
